Every girl loves to fantasize about the types of guys they really want to date.

They love to ask the usual questions: “What kind of guys do you like?” and “Is he perfect for you? Mostly, girls have their own ideas of what types of guys they want to date. And who they don’t want to date.

It’s a good thing for a girl to have an idea of the qualities she wants in her ideal boyfriend but having a specific list is so much better!

A list of qualities she wants to see in an ideal guy. It is this list that’ll define whether the guy belongs to the types of guys for dating or not.

What types of Guys Should You Date?

A lot of women are struggling with dating and relationships. They’ve been burned and heartbroken by men over and again.

Many are been haunted by the disastrous relationships they’ve got into and some don’t want to go into any relationship for the fear of getting screwed over again.

There are many reasons for failing at dating and relationships but almost always the reason women fail at relationships is similar: they always pick the wrong types of guys for relationships.

The fact is that as there are many types of guys, there are many types of relationships. This means some types of guys are ideal for some types of relationships.

The Wrong Types of Guys For The Right Relationship.

Good Guys Vs Bad Guys

In the world of dating, there are good guys and there are bad guys. But, ironically, the bad guys always win. Why? Women love bad guys.

Many women find these men attractive. Some call them bad boys, players, or jerks. According to Scientists, they have more bed partners and even have more children than nice guys.

The fact that a lot of women love players is so common that hundreds of songs have been written about them.

Lady Gaga already sang in Pokerface: “If love isn’t rough, it isn’t fun.”

And no one has put it more beautifully than Alexandra Burke:

She sings “I know that they are no good for me, but I take that risk for the chemistry.”

And that’s where the problem lies.

Women don’t usually learn their lesson with men the first time around. There are many types of guys that girls should never date by hook or by crook.

Types of Guys You Should Never date.

If it’s your dream to have an ideal relationship, then I will share with you the types of guys you should stay away from unless you want to get burned again.

It is not worth it to go into a relationship with someone who is selfish, a player or womanizer, who behaves rudely or is manipulative.

Don’t waste your time on these kinds of guys, they can be problematic and often create problems.

Here are different types of guys you should never date if you are looking for a serious relationship and want to be happy in love.

1. The Conservative

These types of guys take things slow or rather too slow and they may not be comfortable with public affection or expressing their feelings in front of others.

Women want nothing more in a relationship than lots of attention, affection and compliments which of course are unavailable in the life of the conservative guy.

So, you should only date these types of guys if you don’t really need his attention and affection means nothing much to you.

It’s best to avoid dating conservative men because they might leave you feeling lonely and unfulfilled.

Characteristics of conservative guys include being too much into religious activity and following things blindly, but at the same time would be disrespectful towards you and family members.

If he is orthodox, Just leave him. He is not at all a right fit for you.

2. The Very Controlling

One of the worst types of guys to date is the very controlling type. It is important not to date or end a relationship if your partner shows traits of being very controlling.

There’s a huge difference between guys who are controlling versus those who are concerned. If your heart is vulnerable, you may not initially see the difference.

If he keeps telling you what to wear, how to spend your money, and whom you should hang out with are all examples of controlling behaviour in dating.

Checking up on you and needing to know where you are at all times are equally very controlling.

A controlling person can’t relax and trust you with your instincts. Be alert to the tendencies of a controlling person especially when your feedback or opinions aren’t as important (or respected) as theirs.

In dating, these are not normal behaviours. Sadly, these can be indicators of a potentially abusive partner. This is a big one.

3. The Anti-Feminist

Some men still have the mentality that women should do everything at home when it comes to household chores and raising children.

They believe that their job is to earn money for the family, while women take care of everything else.

A guy who doesn’t believe in gender equality just isn’t worth your time and energy – no matter how good he looks or how much money he makes. And there are plenty of great guys out there who do support women and respect their power! Keep searching until you find one.

4. The Lazy

There are some lazy guys out there who don’t want to work or make any effort in life. They would rather sit on the couch all day watching TV than go out there and get things done.

This type of man will only bring negative things into your life so it’s best not to date him as soon as possible before things get worse between both of you!

It doesn’t matter how hot he is or how much money he makes if he’s lazy. You need to be with someone who is motivated and has goals in life. If they’re too comfortable with their lifestyle, they won’t try to better themselves.

This can lead to all sorts of problems down the line because they may stop trying in the relationship too.

5. The Emotionally Intense Types

You noticed your partner came on strong right from the beginning, but you figured it was because he liked you so much. Now he hates being apart.

He calls and text you constantly and combs through all your social media accounts, liking and/or commenting on everything, even posts that are years old.

He always want to have you to himself and was quick to say “I love you,” though it felt fast. Conversations about “forever” come up a lot, and he talks about how he would “go crazy,” “die,” or “kill” himself if the two of you ever broke up.

It can be hard to get away from these types of guys, and you sometimes think they’re following you.

While it can be flattering to think someone adores you so intensely, beneath the surface is emotional dependency. If he comes on too strong from the beginning, that same neediness may turn into pushy physical advances, stalking, threats of self-harm, and/or violence.

In a healthy relationship, you cannot be everything to your partner. Each person needs a certain level of freedom and independence, which is why you should never be held accountable for another person’s happiness.

Emotional intensity often elicits a feeling of suffocation, and if you are feeling this way, don’t ignore it.

6. The Momma’s Boy – The Types Of Guys That Won’t Grow Up

This is perhaps the biggest on the list of the types of guys you should never date. Immaturity kills relationships.  No woman wants a husband who acts like a child.

If you want a serious relationship avoid the momma’s boy as much as possible. This is the guy who can’t make a decision without consulting his mother first.

This can be extremely frustrating when you’re trying to decide which restaurant to eat at or what movie to see.

If your boyfriend constantly needs his mother’s approval for everything he does, it’s time to dump him and find a man who can stand on his own two feet!

7. The Dependent Man

These are the types of guys who depend on their parents, friends, families or their girlfriends for everything. Never date a guy who expects you or others to be everything to him. You cannot meet his every need.  To try to is foolish.

This type of guy will never be able to take a decision on his own and will always need someone else’s help and support even to do the simplest of things in life like choosing what clothes to wear, where to go for dinner, etc.

You can never rely on such type of guy to take responsibility for you.

Here is another interesting fact I think you should know – If you’re economically dependent on your spouse, you’re more likely to cheat on them.

Contrary to popular belief, cheating isn’t necessarily more common among high-earning couples. The link between income and infidelity is more nuanced than that.

Research from the University of Connecticut suggests that a person who is economically dependent on their spouse is more likely to be unfaithful – and that’s especially true for a man who relies financially on a woman.

8. The Extremely Selfish And Self-Centred One

You know what your friends think; the self-centred guy is a narcissist and will never change. You can spot him from the first date when he talks about himself nonstop. And even if he asks you questions, he’ll be too busy thinking of how to impress you with his stories to really listen to your response.

He doesn’t care about your hopes, dreams and passions because he only cares about fulfilling his own.

A godly husband will love his wife like God loved everyone, selflessly laying down his life for her. A self-focused person who can’t love others well and be compassionate isn’t prepared to do this. Likewise, a selfish lady is not ideal for a man.

9. The Never Serious About Life

A guy who is not responsible with his time, money, and work, is likely to be irresponsible in his future family life.  If he never takes anything seriously, it’s highly unlikely that he’ll ever truly commit to you — and it won’t matter how much he loves you or how great of a person you are.

You’ll always come second to whatever else is going on in his life and this will always leave you feeling dissatisfied at best and neglected at worst.

Asking the following questions can help you see through his life. What is this person’s work ethic?  What is their work ethic in helping others?  Is he content with letting others do his job for him?  Does he help you when you need it?

You should also consider how he handles his mistakes. If he keeps repeating his mistakes over and over again and never takes you seriously as he himself is never serious about his life, then don’t date him. It won’t be so cute after marriage.

10. The Type That Got A Large Chip On His Shoulder

You know these types of guys, they see themselves as victims, and everyone owes them something.  For anything that goes wrong in their life, they have a long list of people they blame.

This can be a characteristic of a narcissistic abuser. Such people never take responsibility for their lives. They are always on the lookout to blame someone.

It may be that their parents could not send them to the best college or the University of their Dreams. These types of people are always resentful.

If you see this early, walk away fast.

11. The Hot-Tempered

Another type of guys you should never date is the guy with an anger problem. One minute you’re looking forward to dinner at your favourite restaurant, next your partner’s causing a scene because you arrived a few minutes late.

This happens pretty often, but you blame yourself because you know your partner has buttons that send them into a rage, and it’s your fault for pressing them.

You wish you could be a better girlfriend, but you keep messing up, giving him a reason to explode. Some days you feel lucky he’s so forgiving and still loves you at all because you make so many mistakes, even when you’re being careful.

If your partner’s temper is quick on the draw, it’s not a reflection of you. It simply means he hasn’t learned how to deal with conflict or he may be using it as a means to manipulate, control, or dominate you. Either way, it’s not your fault.

Anger Problem Can Lead To Abusive Relationship

Healthy relationships work hard at conflict resolution. They’re dedicated to finding ways to talk through problems without hurting or disrespecting the other person.

If the reaction you’re met with is always anger, it’s not your responsibility to stay and be an emotional, verbal, or physical outlet for it. That’s not love.

You need to be observant of how your date copes when things do not go as planned.  Does he spew anger all over everyone, including you?  This is a serious red flag.

Please do not expect that you will change that person.  You may actually become an enabler who receives the brunt of his anger.

Spouse abuse by an angry man does not usually randomly begin fifteen years into a marriage.  An angry person has that potential long beforehand.  Abuse is not only physical – but it can also be emotional.

The person may apologize to you over and over again, but if he has abused you even once, leave the dating relationship immediately.  Do not stay with him out of pity.

Encourage him to find a godly person who can help him, but you should get out fast.  You are not sent by God to fix him.

12. The Extremely Jealous

A guy that shows any of the signs of unhealthy jealousy in a relationship is not worth considering for a date. The extremely jealous guys will stalk you on social media and gets mad at every guy whom you talk to on Facebook or Instagram.

These types of guys will constantly ask you about your friends and never trusts your words if they are not what he wants to hear.

This guy thinks that he owns you and that’s why he gets angry at anything and everything which involves other men in your life.

13. The Possessive Guys

I believe you already know these types of guys. They’ve given you jewellery or a personal memento they want you to wear all the time so people know you’re taken.

Even if they’re not overly touchy in private, they’re big on public displays of affection, particularly if your ex is around.

They’re all over your social media and insist on having profile pictures and status updates together. They’re hostile to someone they think wants to date you.

They’ve made you leave parties or cancel plans to be with them and make statements like, “You’re mine,” or “No one will ever love you as I do.”

Movies and books have a bad habit of romanticizing this behaviour; in real life, a possessive partner’s goal is not to share you with anyone.

They operate from a need for control and will try to manipulate you emotionally, using gifts, over-the-top gestures, and compliments to re-establish your “belonging” to them.

Their obsession can lead to physical confrontations with people they view as competitors, and as their behaviour continues, they won’t shy away from humiliating you in public if it means asserting their dominance; for example, they may yell at you and grab your arm to make you leave a gathering.

Possessiveness, physical abuse and isolation aren’t far behind.

If you spot this trait on a potential date; it’s time to run for your life.

14. The Liar

Another type of guys you should never date is the liar. A liar might be a non-stop talker, so he can vomit the lies easily.

No matter how smooth and charming a guy is or rather even if he is your definition of a perfect gentleman if he could lie to your face without showing any signs of stopping then leave him.

A liar will always tell you how beautiful you look or how lovely your eyes are whenever you try to have serious conversations with him about his habits.

He will only talk about himself and will never ask about you or what’s up in your life.

You deserve better than the lying types. You deserve someone who will be there for you even when the going gets tough and who will love you for who you are, not just for what you have to offer them.

15. The Player or Womanizer

The last but possibly the biggest culprit on the list of the types of guys you should never date is the player or womanizer.

When a guy is a player or womanizer, he is skilful at striking up a relationship with you, but not so great at maintaining it.

He tells you what he thinks you want to hear, and he says all the right things, but in the end, he doesn’t follow through.

He disappears for a few days and then comes back as if nothing happened, showering you with affection. He’s the type who will tell you that you’re the only woman in his life while he’s out on a date with someone else.

The player won’t commit because he doesn’t want to commit. A player likes the thrill of the chase and once he conquers his prey, he’s off to find new pastures. If you want more than just a fling or casual relationship, avoid players like the plague.
